If you find it hard to breathe through your nose, you may need nasal surgery. We will examine you to check if you need surgery.
Three kinds of nasal surgery are:
- turbinoplasty
- septoplasty
- rhinoplasty.
Turbinoplasty
In a turbinoplasty, we will widen the airway inside your nose. This will help with airflow so you can breathe easier. The outer shape of your nose is not affected.
A turbinoplasty is an in-hospital operation.
Septoplasty
A septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten a deviated or crooked septum. It should make you feel more comfortable because it improves your breathing. A septoplasty can also lower the chances of sinus infections.
A septoplasty usually leaves no visible incision. This surgery usually takes about 1–1.5 hours. It might take longer if you do a rhinoplasty as well as a septoplasty.
Rhinoplasty
A rhinoplasty is an operation to reshape the nose. It could need extra, visible incisions.
