Nasal surgery

If you find it hard to breathe through your nose, you may need nasal surgery. Dr Miller will examine you to check if you need surgery.

Three kinds of nasal surgery are:

  • turbinoplasty
  • septoplasty
  • rhinoplasty.

Turbinoplasty

In a turbinoplasty, Dr Miller will widen the airway inside your nose. This will help with airflow so you can breathe easier. The outer shape of your nose is not affected.

A turbinoplasty is an in-hospital operation.

Septoplasty

A septoplasty is a surgical procedure to straighten a deviated or crooked septum. It should make you feel more comfortable because it improves your breathing. A septoplasty can also lower the chances of sinus infections.

A septoplasty usually leaves no visible incision. Dr Miller usually takes about 1–1.5 hours. He might take longer if he has to do a rhinoplasty as well as a septoplasty.

Rhinoplasty

A rhinoplasty is an operation to reshape the nose. It could need extra, visible incisions.
