Allergies are adverse reactions to food, medication or something in your environment.
Common symptoms of an allergy include sneezing, an itchy, runny or blocked nose, and itchy eyes or throat.
Diagnosis
We will discuss your symptoms and medical history with you. We will examine you and carry out special skin and/or blood tests to help identify your allergy and ways to ease your symptoms.
Treatment
You can treat an allergy by avoiding the cause of the allergy, but that is not always possible. Medical treatments include antihistamines, steroids and immunotherapy.
We offer a full ENT examination as well as guidance and information on managing allergies.
Special information for children
If your child has an allergy you must tell family, friends and anyone looking after your child (especially at school and in play groups). This is critical for allergies – such as bee sting and peanut allergies – which cause severe reactions.
